Elections of officers will take place at the regular board meeting scheduled for February 22, 2007 at the clubhouse. Nominations have been made, however, there was an expansion of the BOD by two members that has been voted on and approved. If you or anyone you might know who might be interested in serving please contact Neill Goodfellow.

In September 2006 the PRG hosted the second annual Idaho State International Defensive Pistol Championship. The match was well attended by shooters from across the western United States. Nearly 60 shooters shot this match. The club is now in the process of planning and preparing for the same shoot in September 2007.

Parma Rod and Gun looks forward again this year to hosting the MGM Ironman Three-Gun match in June of 2007. This is a major national level match and we expect to host in the neighborhood of 125 or more top notch 3-gun shooters from across the country. Check the calendar for dates.

Last year we talked about the new pits being built south of the clubhouse. Well they are done. MANY THANKS GO TO DENIS PRICE LAND LEVELING. Denis did a fantastic job once again for the club. Denis secured an incredible deal for the gravel at about a third of normal cost and he himself made a huge contribution as well in time and effort. These new pits are being well used and are very unique.

Regarding these new pits, one of the next range improvement projects will be the construction of covers at the center pit. This cover will extend the width of the pit and will allow for 100-yard distances for rifle fire. Another improvement done in 2006 was the addition of target backers at various distances on the rifle range. We attempted to provide staple guns, targets and staples for people to use. The staple-guns have either been broken or stolen, so do not expect more of them. We will strive to keep a variety of targets in the center console under the cover. The rational for the target backers is an effort to keep the garbage off the range. Please remove your targets when you are done shooting. Please police after yourself and try to keep the place as clean as possible. If the garbage cans are full, go empty them if you can. This is an all-volunteer run club and everyone’s contribution to this effort is important.

The club continues to experience non-members sneaking onto the range and using the facility. Usually they come in when the gate is open and the facility is already in use. We have discussed a number of ways to monitor this activity but have not come up with what we believe is a workable solution.

We are also experiencing continuing damage to range props that are not to be used as target backers. Please understand, if anyone is caught doing this, causing intentional damage to these range props, your membership in the club is at risk. That person will be sent a bill, his membership revoked, and will not be allowed to be a member in the future.

The following disciplines are presently active: CMP or Civilian Marksmanship Program, IDPA (International Defensive Pistol), Three Gun Shoots, Sporting Clays and Trap, general sport shooting, LRTR (Long Range Tactical Rifle}, Hunter Education, and Law Enforcement training.

Please enjoy the range, keep it safe, keep clean and have a good year in 2007.
