Mission
The Parma Rod and Gun Club, Inc., (PRG) facility is located on approximately 160 acres of privately owned ground located on the southern boundary of Payette County Idaho. We are about 4 miles North of Parma Idaho, 5 miles South East of Nyssa, Oregon and 12 miles South of Fruitland Idaho.
PRG is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to provide a safe area for the recreational use of firearms. An important part of this mission is the use of the facility for Hunters Education programs that are taught by a number of club members in association with the Idaho Fish and Game. Oregon Hunter Ed. programs have also been held at the PRG range. Hundreds of young people have received their Hunters Ed. training and have been introduced to firearms and firearms safety at PRG. PRG has provided a dedicated Hunters Education firing range area that includes a firing range and stadium seating under a metal cover structure. This facility is also used for other training activities.
PRG has also made the range available, and it is used on a frequent basis by a number of area law enforcement agencies that provide firearms training at this facility.
Besides the individual use of the range for general shooting, sighting in of firearms and just plain old fun plinking, there are a number of active disciplines. Trap and Sporting Clays, IDPA defensive pistol shooting, Defensive Shotgun, Tactical Rifle, Long Range Tactical Rifle, Black Powder shooting, and the Civilian Marksmanship Program which uses the military rifle, M1 Grand, M14 or M1A or AR 15 rifles, are among the organized groups that shoot on a competitive and organized basis.
PRG has a very nice club house facility which includes restrooms for men and women, a nice kitchen with a large grill area, and a very nice dining area that can also be used as a meeting or training room.
The general rifle range has steel "clangers" to shoot at from 150 yards right out to 550 yards. There are berms where personal targets can be set at any of the various ranges out to 550 yards. A full High Power Silhouette range is in place, which uses steel chickens, pigs, turkeys, and rams at the correct meter distances from 200 meters to 500 meters.
PRG also boasts what may well be one of the finest small bore and large bore pistol range in the Northwest. It has targets and berms at 40, 50, 75, and 100 meters with 4 stationary targets at each position. A small-bore rifle range is also located at the same location. All the steel targets necessary to conduct full matches are on hand for use at this range.
PRG has a very fine pistol pit area that includes 4 large pistol-shooting areas. All four pits can be in use at the same time and be used safely. The IDPA defensive pistol program is conducted in this pistol pit area.
