Collapsible Reactive Plate Holder

A friend of mine asked me to weld up some plate holders for him to practice shooting with.  Reactive plates are a great way to practice drawing and shooting quickly, and transitioning between targets.  The pictures and plans below are the result.  Each stand holds one plate, which can be almost any shape or size.  My friend wanted a plate that represented the -0 and -1 area of an IDPA target, and some round plates.

These plans are free for non-commercial use and are offered with no warranty or other claims expressed or implied.  Ken Reed, 09/04/2006.

This shows the holders with 8" diameter steel plates.  Different height
holders help practice transitions between targets.

Drilling the 3/8" holes in the rod ends.

The beginnings of 4 separate plate holders.

Bending jig in use to bend the plate holder hook on the rebar.

Four hooks ready for their pivot plates.

Four spine assemblies, ready to be drilled for movement stop pins.

Legs welded to pivot plate.

Four stands complete except for target plates.

Collapsed.

Cuting a 3/8" plate to shape for a target plate.

Upright, side view, with steel plate hanging.

Ready to shoot.  This plate is the same size and shape as the
-0 and -1 area of an IDPA target.
