Drop Leg Target
This target came to be, because a correspondent, a friend, an IDPA Match Director, needed it. He had a stage planned for a sanctioned match that required two targets that would fall when a leg was shot out from under them. Others have made targets of the same concept, however I have never seen any of those. So this target may be the same or very different than other targets of similar concept, I just don't know. The plan is for me to design build and test the targets, then ship them to him in time for the match.
The plans are free for non-commercial use and is offered with no warranty or other claims expressed or implied. Ken Reed, 08/21/2007.

All the material cut to length, minus a tennis ball and some bolts.

Partially finished, but the concept becomes apparent by now. The drop leg
is on the left.

The drop leg has been hit, and the target falls.

The base and the lath holder.

The guides for the bottom of the drop leg. Aligns the drop leg for reset.

The drop leg is positioned alongside the guide as shown. There are two
guides
because the target can be reversed. This allows the target to drop right
or left.

The pivot end of the base and the lath holder.

The pivot end of the base and the lath holder with temporary hinge bolt
installed.

The tennis ball stops the fall smoothly to prevent ripping the target off of the
staples.

Two targets ready to be shipped to my friend. They can be shot at from
either side, just hit the black leg and....

down they go.

This is the view of the targets under a car at the sanctioned match.

After the black legs are shot, now the paper bad guy targets can be shot.

Recall that the legs are angled 45 degrees away from the shooter. Here
is why. After about 200 shooters, there is a furrow dug into the ground
by the bullet spatter. All of it directed away from the shooter.
