Drop Turn Target
This target concept has been around for a long time. This particular version is simple, reliable as a rock, and has two speed settings of roughly a 1-second and a 2-second exposure. There are pictures of the target, a couple of videos, and detailed plans below.
These plans are free for non-commercial use and are offered with no warranty or other claims expressed or implied. Ken Reed, 07/22/2005.

Slowest setting, shooter's handgun is almost drawn, still time to shoot the
target.

Plenty of time for a several shots.

Double Drop Turn Target
Our local state IDPA match needed some double drop turner targets to give the shooter time to address three targets all activated at once. As such, a new drop turner bar was designed and built to allow two exposures. Other than that single part, the double drop turner is the same as the single drop turner.
These plans are free for non-commercial use and are offered with no warranty or other claims expressed or implied. Ken Reed, 08/11/2007.

The drop turn bar now has two sets of twists to provide two exposures of the
target.
