Holster 1
I wanted to carry a full sized double stack .45ACP in the worst way. I also wanted one carry method that worked winter and summer. My prior carrying experience led me to believe that the only true concealable, ready access way to carry is IWB. But the P14-45 is not a small handgun, and a bit thick in the grip. So I unloaded the pistol, and started sticking it in the waistband of my pants and checking to see which carry positions print the least. Clearly it is the grip that prints, not the muzzle or slide. I quickly found that the more the gun is canted with grip forward the less it prints.
I started a thorough search for holster with lots of cant, and found none. There are a few manufactures that cant the holster with what has become known as the FBI cant, which is about 15 degrees of forward cant. What I really wanted was about 45 degrees of cant. Further research led me to believe that an IWB holster should be completely flat on the body side to spread out the load on the hip.
Since I could not buy the holster I wanted, one needed to be made. I wanted a severe forward cant on the P14 to conceal the grip. This holster is canted at 45 degrees. Additionally the belt attachment points are spread out about 7 inches apart. This distributes the weight of the pistol very well. This holster is comfortable for all day carry, is used for IDPA and USPSA too.
