Mechanics Stool From An Office Chair

My computer chair broke after only 10 years of use.  Fortunately for me, the wheeled base and hydraulic cylinder are still in good condition.  Thus I decided to make the good parts into an adjustable height mechanics stool.

These plans are free for non-commercial use and are offered with no warranty or other claims expressed or implied.  Ken Reed, 05/20/2007.

This is what is left of the old computer chair.

Creating of the upper piece of the stool seat adaptor.

The final milling machine cut of the stool seat adaptor is done.

The machining of the stool seat adaptor is done.

The seat is made from 3/4" red oak and is 11" in diameter.  It is ready to mount to the adaptor.

The tool tray is made from a water tray that typically goes under a planter.  The adaptor is done too.

The height adjustment lever is tack welded.

The height adjustment lever is welded, painted and installed.

The adaptor and seat are connected.

Done. Ready for the next brake job I may need to do.
